Wont Start

I have a 96 Blazer with the 4.3L, Auto, and 4X4. It is really hard to start and runs kinda crappy when it does. Hooked up a fuel pressure tester today. With the key on it goes up to 55-60 PSI until the pump shuts off, then it goes straight to 0. Cranking it has 60 PSI and running it has 54 PSI. I think the pump is getting kind of weak, but it also seems like the regulator might be shot. Any ideas?

With key on, you need 58# min to start, so 55 could be a problem but I would expect it to start. Also not good that the pressure drops when you turn the key off.

How long has it been since you changed plugs, wires, cap & rotor?

Re: Wont Start

Dont know when they were last changed. I just got this about a month ago. Didnt run when I got it. So far all Ive done is replace the alternator, It was shot, and test the fuel pressure.

Re: Wont Start

It's best to start with the basics. Replace the plugs, wires, cap & rotor and see how it runs then.

You pretty much answered your own question Sounds like a fuel pump issue...could be wrong tho... Like yogi said start small....plugs/wires/cap rotor/ even a fuel filter.
