Is my 1997 Jimmy a second generation?
Anyhow, I noticed this winter when the ambient temps are around 0 degrees that the truck will not let me take it out of park for about 30 seconds or so after starting. I figured out that it has to warm up before it goes into overdrive also. Am I going to have a problem with my Jimmy or is it normal? Does the ECM lock out the drive until the temp gets up to a certain point? |

Re: Won't let me drive?
Never heard of such a thing. You checked your trans fluid level? It might be low if it's acting funny.

Uh yeah, 97 is a second gen. 95-04's are second gens. 82-94 are first gens.

Re: Won't let me drive?
yeah the tranny fluid is too thick when it gets cold out and needs to heat up and thin out so it will shift good.

Re: Won't let me drive?
What does your engine temp come to after warm up? You probably should be running around 200/210ish with a stock 195 tstat.
Also assume this is Delphi radiator with no clogs and something that has replaced the dex cool. The radiator warms the hydraulic fluid. Last edited by Vash : 12-28-2008 at 09:50 PM. |

Re: Won't let me drive?
I try to go, but when I push in the AT shifter button with my thumb and the solenoid just clicks for about 3-4 times (foot on the brake), won't go into reverse. No codes either. |
