Wiper help...

A friend of mine has an 01 2dr/2wd blazer. Her drivers side windshield wiper stopped working properly the other day. It would clean the top half of the windshield but not the bottom. It was only doing this to the drivers side. She bought new blades, but it was still doing the same thing. I removed the wiper arm assemblies and swapped the drivers side to the passengers side and vice versa. However, it still only cleans the top half of the drivers side window. I think the motor should be ok since one motor runs both wipers and since the arms and blades are ok, it only leaves a few options on what the problem might be. I pulled the wiper linkage (trans) out and everything seems to feel right. Anyone ever have this happen and know what it might be? All the bolts were tight when I pulled everything apart. TIA
