whole bag of worms- EST, ESC issue

My 93 JImmy (4.3 CPI) 209K mi.) started rough this morning and quit as I went to go. Won't restart. Code 42 . What can I check or replace? The distributor, rotor and pluge were replaced last summer, bfore the Spider injectors. 2 fuel pumps in the last 18months. It's been runnning a little rough since the recent AC Delco pump and sending EGR code 23 occasionally. Unfortuntely I had the catalytic converter replaced and the tune up before replacing the bad injectors. Could a bad catlytic conv. cause it to run rich and rough and have lead to this point? How do I address codes 23 and 42 ?
