where are your rpm's?

hey guys i had a couple of questions on other blazers/bravada's/s-10's

where do your rpm's run @ when your doin 70 or 80 mph?

my 97 blazer seems to get the best gas mileage @ 80mph where im running 2400 rpm. @70 im running 2100 rpm i get awesome gas mileage on the interstate..up in the 28-30 range with cruise set @ 80 mph. but in town i get 19-21 depending how i drive it.

so do your vehicles run the same rpm?

just curious

Re: where are your rpm's?

im gona prolly swap out to a posi unit and 4.10's id like my rpms to be higher @ 70 mph where they are @ 2400 @80 i dont drive interstate much and would rather see the gas mileage gains in town and the short trips i make from town to town im not complaning at all im just curious as to what other vehicles of the same make run? if they are the same? if ya know what i mean

and im fixing to step up a bit in tire size so ill definetly be doing a gear/posi swap soon

Re: where are your rpm's?

i get the best gas millage if i stay under 2000 rpms at just under 70, or just over 7o just depends, I get up to 28-32 mpg but just like any car over 2000 rpm you usally use more gas but depends

that helps a lot since you posted your 1st gen info in the second gen forum.

getting the best mileage at 80mph doesnt make any sense at all. it should be when in the highest gear at the lowest rpms which would be about 55 or 60mph.

my 5sp revs about 2400 at 70mph.
