Re: wheel bearing/hub???

i dont believe they have to be pressed in. you get the hub, remove the brakes and the 3 bolts that hold it in and reverse to install.

What he said^^^^^^

Someone else recommended BCA Hubs as a good replacement, and a lot cheaper than GM. You might try BBB Auto Parts.

I think that the only way to get them open is with a cutting torch.

No, the rotor is not a press fit. It's just a close fit, and with time and rust, the two bind together. Take a big hammer and pound on the center of the hub to try and loosen the rotor.

Yeah,i Was The Guy That Said To Use Bca Hubs.same Thing As The Delco But Cheaper.i Just Put One On My 01 Blazer.took About 30 Minutes Or So.take Off Caliper, pads And Rotor, take Out 3 Bolts That Hold Hub On.unplug Sensor.then Do The Oppisite To Install.

Re: wheel bearing/hub???

How good have those BCA wheel bearing held up? I've always heard to get Timken but the cheapest I've found them are $180 each.

***Edit*** Nevermind those are $226 each, I'll stick with Timken hub assemblies.

Re: wheel bearing/hub???

I bought mine off ebay for $85 shipped, it's a TIMKEN I believe. Still doing good.

They aren't listed, because most people don't know the 2wd Blazers have hub assemblies. Just find the cheapest 4wd hub assembly and email the guy and ask for a quote on a 98+ 2wd Blazers hub assembly. That's what I did.

They don't have to be pressed in, you can't repack them.

They're very easy to install.

Re: wheel bearing/hub???

Most of the time both wouldn't go out at the same time. The noise it makes is kind of a deep hum. I'd just replace the side you know is messed up and if it is still giving you trouble then I'd get the other side, like I said it's not much trouble swapping them out.

Re: wheel bearing/hub???

Be sure that you get the bad one. You can easily identify which side is bad by jacking the tires off the ground and spinning each one. From this it should be obvious which side is bad.
