Re: wheel baring?!!?!!?!?!?!??
If anyone needs a bearing I have a brand new one that I bought and didn't get installed before I traded the truck.
Email me at suds1421 AT yahoo.com if you are interested. |

Re: wheel baring?!!?!!?!?!?!??
I think I've got this same thing. How much of a pain in the ass is it to replace wheel bearings on my 99 Jimmy 4x4? Are there inner and outer bearings like on most other rides? What do the parts cost ballpark? Dubster, we fix the same stuff it always seems.

Re: wheel baring?!!?!!?!?!?!??
on the 4x4s I think you just replace the whole bearing/hub assembly (with integraded abs sensor),which is sealed/pressed together unit. I think it was around $150 when I was looking to do it, still didnt do it yet though.

Re: wheel baring?!!?!!?!?!?!??
You do replace the entire assembly. It is a very easy fix. A couple of jack stands some sockets and a 3 prong puller and you will be good to go in about an hour and a half.

Re: wheel baring?!!?!!?!?!?!??
It's pretty easy to tell which side it is.
With the front end of the truck jacked up, grab the tire with both hands - one on the top, one on the bottom - and then pull and push back and forth. Any play at all and you require a new hub bearing assembly. I've done both sides on my Blazer. |

Re: wheel baring?!!?!!?!?!?!??
sounds more like you need new ball joints. a wheel bearing wouldnt be THAT loud like mud grip....plus if it was a bearing you would hear is grinding |

Splitting the ball joints was a bear Just dont use a impact gun on the new hub or you will screw up teh ABS sensor |

Re: wheel baring?!!?!!?!?!?!??
I did my driver side yesterday on my 01' s-10 @ 70,000 miles. Cheapest one I could find was $118 at New Way auto parts. The hardest part was finding a 36mm socket. The rest was cake.
