What to look for when buying? 4x4 98 Blaze

I just found a 1998 4x4 blazer pewter with pewter interior 90+ miles...i actually havent seen it my GF saw it and called me...do you guys have any questions i can ask him specifically...or what to look out for so i can check before i put any money down on it...he is asking $5800 which is pretty low i think..thanks...

I have a 98 blazer 4x4 with just over 90k miles and I paid $5800 for it in August 2004. At the time, that was about the blue book wholesale price (i bought it from a private seller). I test drove it and looked it over for about an hour and then bought it the next day. So far it has been pretty good, i don't think he tried to cover anything up on it. Make sure to get a carfax on it, and make sure the 4x4 works since that can be rather expensive to get fixed. ask him how to put it in 4 hi and 4 lo, even if you already know how, just to see if he might have been using it wrong and causing damage. The transmission in mine was replaced at about 50k miles by the previous owner......so make sure the transmission isn't on its way out if its original. other simple things to check are the condition of the oil on the dipstick and condition of the anitfreeze in the overfill bottle.

i found out the ODO is bad...it shut off at 85,000 and he estimates 95.000

Can't you go into the computer with a scanner and check the vehicles actual mileage????

I know it shows how many miles since the computer was last reset and how many miles since the last ABS problem. I assume it must show actual vehicle mileage.

With 95k miles, expect to put some money into it unless the previous owner already did all the balljoints and such.
