Werid tranny probs with 97 Blazer

I thought I had this problem behind me, but it’s back. The auto-trans in my ’97 Blazer 4x4 will occasionally slip. Sometimes it is when I first start off in the morning and other times it is when I’m going down the highway. Maybe it’s a coincidence, but when I shut off the engine and wait a few minutes it is fine. I had a mechanic I trust check it out and he said it is shifting fine. He brought up the earlier recall, so I changed the fluid and filter. The fluid looked fine and there wasn’t really any fine metal in the pan. I have noticed this occurs more often in colder weather. It has about 85k easy miles on it. (My mother was the original owner before me so I know the history.) Any one got any ideas?

I thought the TCC solenoid only kicked in at speed (35-40mph). You say you lost 1st gear sometimes so it must come into play more than I thought. In addition to trouble on the highway, occasionally it will also act up from a dead stop. It can limp out of the way of traffic if there is no hill to climb.
