weird thing happend

on my jimmy i had a flashing ses light on this morning when i went to warm the truck up before work. the outside temp was 0degree F if that matters. after a few min of running is when i noticed the light on and from what i understand a flashing/blinking ses light means engine missfire. so i checked all the leads, cap router, plugs are all new with next to know miles on them. so after checking all that fired truck back up then light was out didn't do anything. so i was wondering if anybody else out there has had this happen before, should i expect something is comming up or just what. any help would be greatly appriated thxs

Re: weird thing happend

maybe just a glitch

if you've got a buddy with a professional scan tool, you can probably pull it up in the history codes, but if not, all you can really do is wait to see if it comes back. if it was just some sort of one-time glitch, then it may not have even stored a code at all.

Re: weird thing happend

Re: weird thing happend

you can get an original ac delco for half that price from www.gmpartsdirect.com i would replace the fuel filter first. i tell that to everyone with any kind of problem though. they are only 5 bucks and take 2 minutes to change, and whether its causing your problem or not, they ALWAYS need to be changed. (when you take it off, blow through it, then blow through the new one and you can tell a HUGE difference. I've had some you couldent blow through at all...) then try cleaning your egr out with carb cleaner and getting all the carbon build up off it. good way to tell if your wires are going bad, spray them with a squirt bottle of water and if it starts misfireing right away, you need new wires.

I would bet wires then. Usually they get some moisture in them and when you start it and it warms up, they dry out some. i would suggest coil pack, but evey one i've seen go bad has a steady misfire on at least one cyl. and is constant, not intermittent.

Re: weird thing happend

If it 's the EGR try taking it off and cleaning it. I had a code on my jimmy for an egr, had a big chunk of carbon in it, now it's fine

like i said, get it from www.gmpartsdirect.com you'll pay like 25 bucks shipping, but its STILL half the price of the dealer for the same brand part.

but cleaning it is usually more than sufficient. try it. its free, and whats the worst you can do? you already plan on replacing it anyways. Give it a shot.

Re: weird thing happend

i plan on doing that within the next couple of years cause i'm droping in my 350 motor, a new trans not sure which one yet, new T-case. but back to egr valve thing replaced it and i hope its fixed the problem. my old one had no carbon build up on from what i could see so must have been internaly gone.
