Weak front suspension

I own a '98 4x4 Blazer, and I take it off roading occasionally. Nothing too heavy, just some old forest access roads with a couple of mud puddles here and there. Everything is completely stock, except I have a set of Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo's that are a size larger than stock (excellent tires by the way).

I'm worried about my front suspension though. The stock IFS on 2nd gen Blazers and S10's doesn't seem to be the sturdiest set up in the world (I've already replaced several parts, control arm, ball joints, etc.). I'm hearing a sort of clunking sound from my front end whenever I turn sharply at low speeds (in and out of parking spaces/driveways) and sometimes when I go over bumps.

I was just wondering if anyone knew what that could be. I'm thinking ball joints again, but I'm no expert.

Also, would a mild (say 3 or 4 inches, if it matters), decent suspension lift beef up the stock IFS? About how much would one cost?

That will get you started. The clunking can be anything. Just jack up the front and and look for loose parts. Check the Idler and Pitman arms. If you use quality parts and avoid torson bar tweaks for lift. Youll be fine. I use all MOOG suspension parts and dont have many issues. But I am lifted and running a wee big larger than stock tires.
