Post Trim around back windows?

I just recently moved into a house and was able to get my blazer out of the elements but not before it did some damage, the black trim that is around the black windows is no longer smooth and is turning a nastyyellow color, is there any way to fix this or will i have to replace them?

Re: Trim around back windows?

Are you talking about the molding around the rear hatch windows with the vents? If so I have the same problem, they are fading and pitting at the sametime. What I am doing is giving them a light sand and priming them and then painting them along with my Blazer.

Mine were bad. I just sanded them and sprayed them with some black bumper coating from wallmart. worked out well.

and i have a 2 door, so the are attached to the back window, i'll have to replace the entire window to fix it, or i have to paint them

I guess that would work if you never plan to replace that window. I menion that becasue I had to go to a glass shop this week to check a leaky window. Turns out I have a leak somewhere on the roof and it just comes out by the driver's side rear quarter glass. I guess I'll find the leak someday.

I am having the same pitting problem with mine on my 2000 Jimmy. I've tried using Novus and various car waxes and polishes to try and restore it but the shine always goes away after a few washes or rain. I postee pics of this awhile back.

I'm thinking about sanding and painting them black. Anyone have pics of this? I'd like to see the end results before I start sanding away.

Og BTW, I noticed last night that with the vehicle on and the AC on, I get air escaping from those vents on both sides. I know they are vents...but I thought they were for looks, not functional. Do your vents do the same?

Re: Trim around back windows?

Replace the window with one from a newer Blazer that doesn't have the trim on the window. It just looks cleaner.
