Re: Towing?

If you have 3.42's or 3.73's with an A4 and a tow package you will be able to tow 5600lbs.
With a manual trans you are down to 4000lbs with the 3.42's and 4500lbs with the 3.73's.

Re: Towing?

RATING is 3500 standard i believe, i used to tow an 8000lbs trailer regularly with a airshocks, overload springs no problem....very little sag with the shocks filled and it pulled great

Re: Towing?

i've pulled my '90 Silverado on a car dolly with no problems at all and little sag in the rear end on numerous occasions so a small car would be no problem.. btw i have a 2 door 2 wd

Re: Towing?

Yeah, I know the 2nd gens can tow over 5000 lbs (not very quickly) but they can do it!

I would recommend very highly electric trailer brakes. I have a 5x14 Utility trailer I tow with my Jimmy. It weighs 1150 empty but I often get a ton of rock bringing it to 3150 and it really helps having the trailer brakes!

Re: Towing?

5000-5500 lbs is what I've gathered, on a 2nd gen auto.

I definitely agree on the trans-cooler... You need one! Even if you don't tow, I'd recommend it.

Brake controller is needed on anything over 3500lbs.

Remember you have a short wheelbase, so handeling isn't gonna be so hot with a lot of weight back there... But it'll manage if you get a good brake controller, and drive accordingly.
