tire chains
hey guys,
justhad a question about tire chains, first off, can our trucks use tire chains? I don't have a manual with my truck so I don't know if it's recommended. also if it can I assume I have to put it on all 4s because of the 4x4 right in dec I'm driving from calgary to vancouver and I know some of the mountain passes are pretty bad in the winter. I have 95% tread left on my goodyear wranglers, and can't really afford winter tires so I was thinking of buying chains just in case. is this a good idea? or should I be scrounging up money to buy winters? I'm not sure how these truck perform in slick conditions btw my truck is a 98 jimmy sls 4x4 Thanks for any advice you can give me |

Re: tire chains
To be quite honest you'll probably be more than fine with 4x4 and just regular tires... I wouldn't recommend going off-roading of course; but just regular driving I'd suspect you to be better off than most. If you are somewhat worried; inspect the motor, transmission, driveshaft & differential, as well as the transfer case.
If you really convinced; just pick up some tire chains; relatively inexpensive and easy to put on/take off. And they'll help ya if you really need it. |
