My 2001 Blazer 4.3 4wd 4dr. is throwing a code for low coolant, but my coolant isnt low. The truck doesnt reach full operating temp either. It stays at or below the 1/4 mark on the temp gauge. What could be wrong? Could this be a problem to gas mileage as well? Any help would be appreciated. thanks

Re: Throwing Low Coolant Code
sounds like the t-stat is stuck open, change it, the code is not for low coolant it is for eng not reaching proper temp relating to coolant.
yes haveing an eng not reaching operating temp will cause it to use loads of gas. it does this to try and make the eng run hotter, the ecm is thinking it is still warming up. it takes more fuel for an eng to run when cold than hot. |

Re: Throwing Low Coolant Code
x2..... change the t-stat, and flush out the dexcool if you still have it.... use conventional green antifreeze
