Thinking About Lowering My Blazer..

I have a '98 Blazer, 2 door.
I was thinking about lowering it, but not sure by how much.

It seems like my rear end sticks up higher than my front end..Some people might know what I am talking about.

Anyways, what would be a good drop? 4 inches in the front-6 inches in the back?

I have a 4x4 Blazer so I don't want it stupid low.

I am also going to be getting 20's for it soon..So tell me please what would be a good drop?

Re: Thinking About Lowering My Blazer..

good luck getting 4inchs with a 4x4. for the back id use lowering blocks, for the front, thats where it gets tricky. since its a 4wheel drive best bet is to just crank the torison bars, but not too much or shit will break. so you can prolly do a 2/3 drop. next you cant go to low also because the 4x4 offset makes the wheels stick out so with 20's they actually might hit the inner fender lip so you might have to bend the inner lip up so you can turn if the wheels are wide enough

Re: Thinking About Lowering My Blazer..

What are some good blocks to use? I have never lowered a vehicle before, so I'm very new to this. I just want a clean looking blazer. I don't want my fenders over my rims, if you know what I mean. Maybe about 4 inches or more away from my tires. I will get some pictures up later. Its dark here in KY.

Re: Thinking About Lowering My Blazer..

I couldn't really find anything. But I did find one thread about putting belltech blocks or leafs in the back, then cranking on the torsion bars. It should lower it 3/4.
Can anyone help me with this?

Re: Thinking About Lowering My Blazer..

thats belltech torsion keys and 3 inch blocks, plus the tire is an inch shorter than stock, so roughly a 4/4 drop. i wouldnt mind another inch in the back, needs a mininotch though.

That's odd, that's my main complaint about mine.

Cranking the torsion bars probably won't get you to a 3 inch drop in the front, but even if it does it will be terrible for the front end. Do what Kampz said and get the torsion keys. Also, did you actually find the drop leafs for a 4x4? I didn't know they made them.

Re: Thinking About Lowering My Blazer..

you can use 2wd drop leafs, they are the same as the 4wd parts. you just have to make sure they are for a blazer, not S10.

i meant that i didnt like the two tone on mine, not yours...sorry if it sounded that way

Oh, that's awesome. I did not know that about the leafs, thanks.

And don't worry, you didn't offend me in any way. I was agreeing. I really don't like the gold/black two tone on any Blazer. lol

Re: Thinking About Lowering My Blazer..

I just lowered my 2dr 4x4 using the Belltech blocks and Torsion Keys...Its sitting about 3.5-4" lower in the front and 3" in the back...Got a set of 3" drop leafs and a 1" block in the future to level that out...

Alignment was a PITA but would not have been at all possible without the new keys...I would also, HIGHLY reccomend installing some Nitro Drop or Street Performasnce Shocks from Belltech...The body roll and travel is absolutely ridiculous without it...I rode without them for a week an d bottomed out so many times at normal speeds that i had to have it re-aligned...

BEFORE (with a slightly sagging t-bar)

AFTER (all aligned)
