The Newest Member of my s-Family...

Well I finally did it, I got my wife into an s-series truck. Last Friday we sold her Honda Accord and we picked up a black 1998 Bravada. It's fully loaded and only has 94,000 miles on it, all it needed was some new tires... I think It still had the stock tires on it. The best part is we only paid $2,900 for it! So far she loves it it needs a few cosmetic items like a couple radio knobs and a new drivers side mirror. Other than that it's in awesome condition.

The story on the truck goes.. They guy that I bought it from had actually picked up the truck from his friend who owns a small dealership. Well since they are friends he sold him the truck for what he bought it for at auction from a dealership. The guy I bought it from had actually bought it as a gift for his son last Monday. When his son brought home his report card from school on Wednesday he found out that he was apparently failing a lot of classes so he told him that he was no longer getting the truck. Then he sold it to me for the same price that his friend picked it up for from the auction... He originally listed it for a little more but when I went to look at it he told me that he would let me have it for what he had into it just to get it sold quickly.

I'd post some pictures, but it's just a stock Bravada. Maybe I'll just post one later anyway.

Re: The Newest Member of my s-Family...

For now it's just going to be the family car, but I'll probably do some little stuff to it... The thought of doing a couple inches of lift had crossed my mind. I'd like to get a system for it too but other than that it's probably going to stay mostly stock.

Re: The Newest Member of my s-Family...

before lifting it... see how your wife drives it...

most women think all vehicles handle the same... huge difference between a car and an SUV...

i don't let my GF drive my envoy, cause she'd probably roll it...

2 months after i bought the envoy (way back in 2000) they did roll over ratings for SUVs these s-class jimmys/blazer/bravada/envoys had the #1 rollover rating out of all SUVs tested

that's my 2 cents...

Re: The Newest Member of my s-Family...

nice find man.. i almost had a bravada but as soon as i saw the interior i said noooo.. it was all hacked up from some idiot putting tvs in it... he eather didnt knwo what he was doing or liked cutting holes in his truck... everything that i touched was jsut covered in vynal nothing behind it... it was bad... then the same guy had my jimmy for sale.. it needed a motor swap but it came with the motor so i picked it up for 1900... the newer motor, trans and tc have about 30000 miles on them and it runs great.... i do have a question though... did they make the bravada awd... or where they all push button 4wd...

Re: The Newest Member of my s-Family...

Our Bravada is AWD and there is no buttons to change modes, it's automatic. But I can definitely feel it when I stab the gas, it just grips and goes, even when it was raining the other day. I'm about 90% sure that all Bravadas are the same way just AWD not 4WD, and not selectable.

I'm sorry to hear that the truck you found was beat, I got lucky and this one is in great shape. It's not perfect but it looks pretty good for a 10 year old truck.

Yeah I have already talked to her about it but she drives pretty sane. Besides she used to have a lifted Dakota and before that an Astro van, so she knows how to drive bigger vehicles. But I have noticed myself that it definitely feels much more tippy than my truck (obviously) or even my friend's lifted S-10. We just have to get used to it. As far as lifting it, for now I was just concidering doing a t-bar crank to level the front out a little.

Re: The Newest Member of my s-Family...

Oh trust me there is no way that I'm going to crank the t-bars that much. The front is only about 3/4" lower than the back right now. I was just thinking about lifting the front enough to level it out or maybe just below level.

Re: The Newest Member of my s-Family...

you only have about 1 inch max to play with.. so you should be alright... i believe it was rock auto that makes a nice lift kit for 450 bucks... was gonna get it but then came up withthe awd concept and it stuck
