i dont think any of this is fact but i wanted to ask you all. i have been working on a few different cars lately at work and have noticed that Chevy uses BOSE and ford uses/used MACH , Toyota uses JBL, jeep uses infinity, and so on. so what car company uses the best speakers. and what do you all like.
just wondering. thanks |

Re: systems
well first of all the stock systems are always weak doesn't matter what factory puts in there you can always improve
... but ... i had bose in the blazer which i didn't find all that. The grand cherokee and pacifica cars i had used infinity once which i liked. I also used jbl's in my talon also had a few kicker subs in my cars and helped install into friends cars 2... over all it's what ya prefer cause there a lot of good quality brands out there and i think it truely depends how much $$$ u wanna shell out ![]() I personaly like infinity for speakers but prefer kicker for subwoofers and alpine for head units { just me} there are alot of ppl that like jbl setups i personaly had a bad experience with a set so i ain't gonna judge based on that ... but i also know a lot of ppl that where happy with mtx and sony combo's as well ... if your lookin to put a system in a blazer, that isn't for heavy comp's and still allows ya for back trunk space; a set of 10" subs paired with some decent speakers should keep ya bumpin nicely... |

Re: systems
Now my wifes car is a 08 Altima coupe, it has Bose speakers and I was really surprised, they're actually aftermarket quality the SQ is very desirable. If I were replacing them though I'd probably still get a different set as pk said "you can always improve" I've heard Bose in a GM vehicle and Infinity in a Grand Cherokee, they were a little better than stock, but nothing to have an orgasm over. I've always used Pioneer door speakers due to quality/price factor, I'm not overally anal on SQ though, just want something clean and crisp. I also always used Audiobahn subs, they had a very tight deep bass sound and were quality built. What I'd do is build a box that fits tightly up to the passengers side part of the cargo area and put one good 12" sub in it. |

Re: systems
Yeah, it's a Bose too, I think it's called the Bose "syphon-feel" or something like that, if it ever goes out I'd just get an aftermarket sub, they're friggin' expensive from GM.

Re: systems
I now have all aftermarket in my blazer, alpine type s comps in the front doors (cheap but sound really nice) MTX coax in the rear (bought to replace blown factory speakers) alpine 4-ch amp (MRP-F300), JVC KD-AR8500 deck, Clarion subs and a kenwood class D amp. All is much louder (obviously) and clearer than a stock system. I noticed a big difference between just the MTX coaxials (which i had in all 4 doors for about a year) and stock speakers. Personally, ill never spend the money on an upgraded system from the factory. If i could id have them remove it and take some off the price of the car...too bad they dont do that...For the price of the bose system you can get a 4ch amp, better speakers and a wiring kit. The stuff really isnt that hard to install (shouldnt be telling people that since im MECP and looking for a job, lol).

Re: systems
But yeah you get way more bang for the buck with an aftermarket system vs. an inferior overpriced OEM one. |

Re: systems
also another thing that you will notice, on the "Upgraded" factory system, the amps that they come with have a ridiculously high THD level (total harmonic distortion), its about 10% as compared to a lot of aftermarket amps that have .02% or .5% is common, the highest ive really seen is 2% IIRC and thats probably slightly over rated and at a low impedence, even the cheap 70 watt visonik in my g/fs car only has .9% thd @4 ohms and thats pretty high. so, sure the factory upgrade systems are a step up from factory, but nothing that will blow you away, if you want a great sounding system, build it yourself
