It stalls right after starting or while driving?

You mean do i hear the fuel pump turn on with the key in the on position ..yes...thing is tho my filter was badly clogged (i bought the truck from a shady dealer I didn't know this at the time) and when i replaced it i could BARELY blow thru it so I'm afraid I put some stress on the fuel pump..

Example.. drove from my house to the grocery store yesterday...picked up one thing got back in the truck...just kept cranking and cranking...started to turn over and was slightly sputtering and died back out. Waited a min or two tried again and just cranked and cranked...waited another min...she fired up with a little hesitation..

Re: Sound like a fuel pump to you?

try checking the plugs n if it's not the plug then more than likely you need a new pump... pumping the gas will not do anything seeing as how it is fuel injected

Re: Sound like a fuel pump to you?

was pokin around and i read somewhere someone had the same problem as me almost and it was due to the paslock...now i find it wierd because sometimes when my situation happens i will lock the doors and close the driver so the security light goes on..then open it with the key not remote just the key so it turns off the security light and then sometimes it seems to help the starting...OR it just seems probable and its still the pump..any input?

Passlock will normally let the motor start right up, run for a few seconds, then die, and the security light comes on. Yours sounds more like the fuel pump but run a pressure test to be sure.

Re: Sound like a fuel pump to you?

DO all of the above first then do the fuel pump. Mine for some reason was a pain in the ass. Yesterday was the first time I have ever done one on a S10. Need any tips shoot me a PM and I will do whatever I can to help out.

Re: Sound like a fuel pump to you?

Well I replaced it...wasnt too bad but my tank was a lil more full than I originally though it was (level sensor was shot too apparently) And she is running fine for now (knock on wood) hardest part was gettin the filler neck and over flow tube hooked back up...could only do it once the truck was half strapped back up...what a p.i.t.a.

The new pump came with like an upgraded wire harness it said "to allow more voltage blah blah something" thing is the harness had 4 wires all like 16 ga and only two wires off the truck were 16 the other two were like 18 ga..and the colors didnt even match up..only 3 did ya i know last one and last one...but you would think they would match up all four colors..SO goto fill it up and i put about a half a tank in it and it wasnt reading the gas...started drive and the fuel gauge on the cluster starts slowly going up.. instead of shooting right up like it should..So either I got a shitty pump or something else is wrong..

Re: Sound like a fuel pump to you?

Sorry to hear about the problems with the gauge, but glad to hear that the pump has solved your other prob.

Good luck!

Re: Sound like a fuel pump to you?

All my wires matched up except like you said some were a different gauge than others. I had not had a working gas gauge since I bought the truck (5 years ago) so I was happen when I saw mine working. Sorry yours isn't though.

Which pump did you go with?

Re: Sound like a fuel pump to you?

I was going to suggest beating on the bottom of the tank.

This has made mine start twice now for some reason. The pump was replaced before I bought it, and I think its going out, but its gotten me out of a bind and started.

So either 1) tanks full of crap and sucking it to the sock and hitting it shakes it loose or 2) somehow it causes the pump to start working. I hear it prime but didn't start.

I replaced my ECM, Cap/Rotor, crankshaft position sensor, ignition module and coil before i replaced the MAP sensor and this fixed my truck the first time. Now its died twice since and hitting the tank each time made it start
