Service 4WD Light Question

I am having this problem on a 2000 blazer with the 4 button switch on the dash. I noticed last week my "Service 4WD" light was coming on, at the same time all the lights on the switch come on, including the red neutral light. They all stay on about 5 seconds, Then all the lights go off and the 2hi light comes back on. It done this several times in a sequence. Saturday I got in a little mud and started spinning in 2WD so I pushed the 4HI button and nothing happened. I heard a click in the passenger side dash panel and it sounded like something shifted in the front but no 4WD. If I push the 4HI, 4LO or Auto 4WD button the light blinks but I don't get 4WD.
