Running hotter lately

Hey guys, first off I'm new to this site and to jimmy's. I've got a 98 jimmy 4x4, 4.3 and the temp gauge ran at half all summer. Now the check engine light comes on and the temp gauge has been reading at 3/4. I noticed that at the same time I hear a bit of spark knock on acceleration. Do you guys know what that could be, I was wondering if I blew something that goes with the timing and it's running hot because the timing is not on?

Re: Running hotter lately

Go to Autozone and have them scan your truck to see what code is causing the check engine light.
