Replacing the Fuel Pump

Ok, I have the hard to start in the morning blues.
I have read all the post. I figured it has to be one of the known issues.
I am going to start with the FI cleaner, not expecting much.
Next I am going to see about replacing the fuel pump. I can't find anything about how hard this is. Is it in the gas tank, is it on the motor like it used to be.

Anyone have any input on this?

Change the FUEL FILTER before removing your gas tank to replace the pump!

Replacing the fuel pump is a MO-FO in these trucks!

Yes, fuel filter along with Sea Foam and replacing the pump in these trucks isn't that bad... especially if you have a lift in your garage

Re: Replacing the Fuel Pump

Well, I don't have a lift, but I can do the filter pretty easy.

Re: Replacing the Fuel Pump

It also seems like a much easier job once you take it to a shop and they tell you how much it will be to change one out.

Re: Replacing the Fuel Pump

If fuel pump is needed to be replaced, then key word is fuel pump.

You will see everyone say to buy fuel pump assembly, problem is that it's over $300. Well problem is that they're replacing ENTIRE unit, when fuel pump ITSELF is only thing needed to be replaced.

There fore you replace the FUEL PUMP that go for $50-$150 depending on brands.

There's how to so you can look it up in stickies in Engine/Drivetrain tech section.

unless is flex fuel....they only sell assembly for flex fuel ( i replaced mine and tried to substitute something else at Summit , but GM Parts Direct was cheapest )
