removing 1998 4.3

going to remove and replace a 4.3. someone told me the trans has to be removed first i didnt have to do this on my 93 who has r& r a engine on a 98 thank you

i can see why it is easier to remove the trans first. there isnt really alot of room to come forward with the motor because oil pan will hit front diff. trans is out so far
