Relocated 3rd Brake Light.

I relocated my 3rd brake light today and thought y'all that would like to see what I did.

A friend suggested that I should move my 3rd brake light to the interior like he did. Well he never gave me any pictures so I was on my own, but I think it turned out rather well, and will look MUCH better when I get the panel covered in tweed.

In this picture you can see my 3rd brake light, the panel I'm mounting it to, and my custom spacer I had to make. The panel is curved and the light isn't so I had to fill in the gap so it didn't look stupid. My panel consists of 4 layers of cardboard that I eventually covered in some black vynil so that it looks a little better.

This picture you can see my 4 layers.

This picture and the next you can see the holes I had to make to install it and put the wires through.

Here it is put together. The stock bolts would not work because they weren't long enough so I had to go find some in my "random bolt drawer" in the garage. The ones I found were bigger around then stock so I had to dremel out the holes some.

Here it is installed. I did figure out that the bolts I chose were too long to mount the panel in the roof. To compensate I just drilled 2 holes in the roof. I didn't go through the top layer, where I drilled was in line with the clips that held it on the panel originally, so it was no big deal.

With the brakes on.

With brakes on, through the window.

Re: Relocated 3rd Brake Light.

i did this years ago, you need to ditch the card board thing and use some dark gray(charcoal) or black foam. That way you dont get that bent look.

For now they are covered with black electrical tape, but when I get the tailgate shaved I'll have them do those holes too.
