Rear Window Wiper Fluid...

...where does it come out of? Or at least, where is it supposed to come out of? On my 99 Bravada it manages to leak from the trim inside the vehicle... is there anything you can tell me about this? I can't seem to locate it in the chilton manual.

Thanks,
Ryan

there should be a very small hose that will run along the wiper arm and then come out a small sprayer near the center of the wiper arm. I shaved my wiper squirters in the front of my truck and relocated them on the front wiper arms the same way.
it sounds like you have a broken hose inside the car. thats a crappy deal.

yep, i believe they are either soft rubber lines (prone to dry rot) or hard plastic lines (prone to cracking in time). should run inside your tailgate and into the rear cargo area through the rubber boot with all the wires, then I belive it runs closer to the driver's side of the vehichle somewhere

yea the line runs under the carpet with the wiring going into the tailgate, and yes it runs under the drivers seat, through the firewall and into the engine bay.

lol under the carpet w/ the wiring. wow the idiot that thought that one up. Thats just setting up for wiring issues. If i had a suv dime i would re-route that.

really. so as those wires grow older they begin to get hard and crack. washer fluid drips on the crack shorting it onto the wire next to it? It would sure be a pain in the neck to track that short down.
I work on aircraft that you probably fly on. If i ever did that on an aircraft i would be fined and have my license suspended. Now its a lot more dangerous in an aircraft cause you cant exacly pull over at 36,000 ft and try and find out why your no longer getting fuel to your engines. But still in your truck, if you can set things up so you dont run into problems in the future, then wouldnt it be worth your time?

Re: Rear Window Wiper Fluid...

cheaper and easier to run it under the carpet with the wires than to put it inside the frame rail or its own conduit under the truck. cant put it in the headliner cuz when it cracks it'll ruin the headliner

Run it under the carpet at least a foot away from any wires.

oh well, car manufacturers put out so many different cars they cant perfect every aspect of them and expect everything to work correctly 10 years down the road. that is where enthusiasts like us come in and fix all the minor problems and make the vehicles better

Re: Rear Window Wiper Fluid...

HAHA fun stuff. they just stuck it wherever they want. so here my idea. reroute it so the rear pisser wont run to the back window. just have it aimed away from the truck so you can piss people off. or piss on them. w/e lol.
you dont need a rear winshiled wiper lol

guess you never drove a blazer. any wetness on the road gets flung onto your back window because your tires kick it up and the vacuum pulls it in. makes it hard to see much of anything. in the winter the back window gets caked in white salt residue and if you didn't have a rear pisser you'd never see out of it.

lol truck drivers use there side mirrors. why cant suv drivers? but really i have driven a navigator in the winter and misty rain. You cant see a dang thing until you hit the washer fluid.

anyways i understand gm and all the manufacturers put out millions of cars and cant perfect things. I guess its job security for there mechanics. kinda a crappy way to look at it if ya ask me. but i agree thats where we come in. see when i work on anything im really particular about how i do things. i make sure when i complete the task i have done it in a way that i will not have to worry about it becoming a problem again or causing other problems with other systems. Thats how i have been trained to think.
anyways enough w/ whoring the thread. My opinon on re-running it, run it somewhere else where if in the future it cracks again it wont wet your carpet or possibly short wires or cause anyother problems to anything in the areas you run it.

Re: Rear Window Wiper Fluid...

I've pulled the pisser out of a few blazers, some over them dman near 10 years old and none of them had cracks in the pisser tube. Or the wires. Now, if your loadinf heavy and pointy shit into the back then yes it can pinch wires and the tube and cause a short. Personally I think it would be a waste of a few hours to move it.
