Rear window trim question

How does the trim on the rear side window come off? Mine like many others is pitted so I want to remove it to color match it with the rest of the paint. Almost all around here that I have asked, do not know, or are guessing as to how to remove it. I know that when the rear hatch is open that there are two rivets on each side that need to be driled out, but what holds the rest of it on? Some say tape, some say clips. Mine is bad enough that the lower portion is so pitted and too close to the window to where I would feel safe sanding without hitting the glass.

Re: Rear window trim question

I'm pretty sure all you can do is remove the whole glass and paint it or paint it on the vehicle. The rubber doesn't come off.

Now if you're talking about removing the entire glass I'd pay a window guy to take it out. It costs me $40 to do this on mine.

Re: Rear window trim question

Thanks ZQ8. Looks like I am going to spend a rainy weekend in the garage taping and sanding.
