Hi all---1st post here. Just wondering how difficult replacing the rear shocks on my Blazer would be. I've got all the correct tools, but not sure if I'm mechanically inclined enough to try it. I checked the 'how to' area here, but didn't find anything about them. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Re: Rear Shocks replacement
On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being easy and 10 being tougher than hell, shock replacement would rank about a 3, only cause you have to get under the truck. Theres not a how too cause its pretty easy. Unbolt the top, un bolt the bottom, pull old shock out and reverse. If you need a more detailed how to go to www.autozone.com enter in your vehicle info and find it in the repair guide.
This one is for mine but should be about the same idea. http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us...rInfoPages.htm |

Re: Rear Shocks replacement
Glad I read this. I guess the front is a higher number on your repair chart? What shocks you going to use on your blazer?

Re: Rear Shocks replacement

Re: Rear Shocks replacement
I got the BellTech Nitro 2 shocks which came with the little bar already installed in the eye, but just an FYI, I had to remove my sway bar as well as the 2 top bolts and the 1 bottom bolt on the shocks to remove them. Not a big deal, but keep that in mind.

Re: Rear Shocks replacement
This was on a 97 S10 w/ ZQ8 suspension. Not sure if that makes a difference or not.

Re: Rear Shocks replacement
I didnt think I was going to need to take it off, but when I attempted to slide the shock off of the bottom mount, it hit the sway bar just enough to keep it from coming off all the way.

Re: Rear Shocks replacement
A lot of people on here get the summitt drop shocks. The only reason I have Belltech is that they came with the truck. All I had to do was install them.
