rear end swap

1997 Blazer 4x4, AC, V6 4.3

my pinion seal went, brought it to the shop, there was severe damage to the inside requires a rebuild.

now, i have a rear end from a 1995 S10, probably 4.10 gears, what does the process involve to swap in a 4.10 rear end in this blazer? Is it just a straight bolt in? or do I have to change the driveshaft etc.

Re: rear end swap

If it's like my fullsize was then it'll bolt right up unless one rearend is a 2wd and the other is a 4wd. I'd go get a 98+ Blazer rear end.

Re: rear end swap

If your is a 4x4, you need a 4x4. The 2wd are narrower. Drive shaft will bolt up.

Re: rear end swap

I am pretty sure it would, might want to ask on the general suspension section.

Was it this bad?

Doesn't the gearing have to remain the same because of the transfer case? otherwise the front and rears wont turn at the same time?
they'll be working against each other, rather then with each other...
