Re: Rear bumper removal

dont you have a rollpan on the one in your avatar?

anyway, the sides come off first with (4) 10mm nuts on the tops of them. there are studs coming down off of the body that they thread onto that you will reach from the backside of the caps. and theres also a support bar that goes to the bottom of each side piece which i think is held on with a phillips screw. there is also 3 phillips screws in the front side of side piece along the fender line.

then for the bumper, pop off the plastic on top of the bumper and there should be some big bolts under there which are 18mm's i think. and the same on the bottom of it.

Re: Rear bumper removal

Once you have the side caps off, you can upbolt the bumper from the sides/below. Under the plastic cover on the step is just the smooth head of the bolt and nothing you can unscrew.

and im going to say BS on this. there are some monster bolts holding the bumper on. no way that the main ones are 10mm. unless your truck was fixed by an idiot and put the wrong bolts in.

here, this is one of my bumper bolts compared to a 10mm bolt. the widest part of the 10mm bolt is the same diameter as the threads on the bumper bolt.

Re: Rear bumper removal

sorry it felt like i bumped an old thread but i wanted to make it clear how to remove the bumper end caps. btw I havent even removed my bumper yet and I know the bumper bolts are more along the lines of a 12mm or 14mm bolt.

Re: Rear bumper removal

Actually if you look at my posts I was just trying to make it easier to get the bumper end caps off, I posted I had never removed the bumper yet. So my answer was in fact true.
