Rear brake calipers sticking ?
Got a 2001 Blazer thats having problems with the rear brakes. The brake pads are wearing unevenly so I think its the calipers that are the problem. I replaced the rotors and pads, and disconnected the parking brake to see if that was causing it. Then tried starting the car while it was up on stands and found that the drivers side rear wheel is stuck!
Wut da problem iz? ![]() Here are some pictures of the drivers side rotor and pads that might help. http://s509.photobucket.com/albums/s332/visithtang/ |

Replace the calipers. Having the same issue with mine. I just need to get time and money to get them replaced. It would help if it warmed up too. Sucks freezing my ass off while changing brakes!

Re: Rear brake calipers sticking ?
Make sure it's not just the pins that are frozen, might be able to get away with just the braket and new pins.. much cheaper then the caliper

Re: Rear brake calipers sticking ?
Sliders were fine on mine. Seals are cracked and let crud get into the piston causing it to stick.

Re: Rear brake calipers sticking ?
The sliders looked fine, but I couldn't get the piston back in. Tried bleeding the caliper and the fluid came out swamp water green! Going to flush the system and buy new rear calipers for now.

Mine had the same problem so I cleaned and greased the pins(or maybe what you guys are calling the sliders.)

Re: Rear brake calipers sticking ?
Also had that problem on an 01 and the damn pins were screwed up. It was almost like the inside of the caliper where the pins were supposed to slide was corroded out and caused the pins to bind. We hit the pins with a wire wheel and used some brake grease and all was well again.

Re: Rear brake calipers sticking ?
its a fairly common problem with these things, the rear caliper pistons seize on em, just replace the caliper, i think they're 10-30 bux depending on where you get them. mine did it about 3 weeks after i bought it.

Re: Rear brake calipers sticking ?
Where the hell you finding rear calipers for 10-30? Try $60-100 depending on if they have the bracket and hardware and pads.

Re: Rear brake calipers sticking ?
While your replacing them, if you have an automatic, get rid of the e-brake shoes. Nothing but trouble. BTW...replacing calipers....get new. It will save a lot of headaches on down the road.

yeah there are certain thinks you dont get from a junkyard... brakes are a major one... if your trucks are bad what makes you think the junk yard ones are any better....
