RAP Relay Location
Hello out there in Forum Land.....
Quick question to anyone that has had the same problem...... I have a 2000 Chevy Blazer, and just recently the courtesy lights in the vehicle decided they wanted to stay ON all the time, and not shut off, either with the key in or out of the ignition. I had to depress the DOME OVERRIDE button near the dimmer switch, so I don't have any lights inside when I shut the vehicle off (I work all night shift, so they are kinda important for me to see). Another problem I encountered was that the accessories in the vehicle used to stay on until about 15 minutes or until the door was opened. Now they shut off automatically when the ignition is turned off. I have checked the door actuators and all seem to be working, and all the fuses that I can check are intact. My big question for anyone out there is.....where is the relay for the delay in the accessory, and someone told me it is called the RAP relay (Retained Accessory Power)? I have torn the undereneath of the dashes (both sides) out and can only find the relays for the keyless remote and auto-start system, along with the flasher on the passenger side. The local Chevy garage told me it was under the hood somewhere (thanks for that one), but I am unsure of where to start. Does anyone out there have any ideas for me on where to start? I appreciate any help whatsoever......... |

Re: RAP Relay Location
Thanks for the responses so quick y'all, but a couple of things though.....
The under-the-hood fuse panel has several relays in it, and I am not sure which one would take care of it, and the book and the inside cover of the fuse box doesn't show a RAP relay in there. It shows them by shortened name or initials, but no RAP or DELAY or anything like that. The relays that are shown in the fuse box are as follows: STARTER - obvious F/PUMP - assuming fuel pump HDLP PWR - Headlamp power A/C - another obvious one DRL - Daytime Running Lights (I guess) HORN - another obvious one RR DEFOG - i'm guessing the defogger LIFT GLASS - the rear lift glass FOG LP - fog lamps, which I don't have CHMSL - center high stop mount light So, in there lies a dilemma, since I don't know which one it is, unless the are marked wrong. Also, eric s, if you are talking about the door latches that are those nice little plastic actuators that are mounted on the inside of the dash, and push in with a small circlular piece of plastic on the door, I check the ones up front, and they are fine. |
