quick A/C question

how long do you guys get out of your air conditioning? i have 172,000km's on my 95 jimmy and now hte compressor is making funny noises. wondering what is the average life for the a/c

Mine had to be replaced (under warrenty) at around 50K km.

could the a/c be making funny noises because it needs to be recharged? mine starts clicking when its low.
