Question about Wifes Envoy
Hey Guys, we were gifted a 2000 gmc jimmy envoy, i am not familiar w/ v6'sor v8's so my question might be stupid so i apologize in advance. Heres my question. Her envoy has a lil puddle of anifreeze, right from under the trans. Is this normal? if not whats the hose or part that might be causing this? i have traced a hose to that area but cannot see if its leakin, oh btw the suv isnt overheating or having any heater/air problems. just wasnt sure if this is norm and the wife is freakin out not wanting to drive it.. lol thanks again guys Cheers! |

Re: Question about Wifes Envoy
brown or green or clear?
Brown or Green is antifreeze. In that area, Id check the heater hoses at the firewall 1st and on from there. Clear would be condensation dripping off the AC evaporator and is totally normal. Is this a Jimmy Envoy or a Newer-style Envoy? I forget what year they changed over |

Re: Question about Wifes Envoy
i checked the ac compressor and it is leaking a lil anifreeze but looks like its just forming a lil dripp on top of the ac bracket.. i cannot notice any holes in any of the hoses. Do you guys think that the ac compressor is bad and is the anifreeze its leaking could be the anifreeze i see dripping on to the ground?

Re: Question about Wifes Envoy
With a flash light, climb up into the engine bay and shine the light at the rear of the engine, right where it drops into the firewall. You'll probably see a little antifreeze right there. As mentioned above, this is the intake manifold gasket.
As an interim fix, I used a can of Dexcool safe "stop-leak" 15,000 miles ago. It fixed the problem. I've even power flushed the cooling system since then and it is still leak free. |
