question about transmisison

just curious a neighbor of mine has a 2000 blazer 4x4 and the transmission is going out, they dont have a lot of money and are tryin to find a transmission so someone they know can do it but the dealers told them that in 2000 that they did something "different" with the transmissions and they have to have a certain one anybody know anything about this? what transmissions will work, good price etc. etc.

best I know is a TSB for the valve body... new design.
