purchasing a blazer/gmc 4x4 questions
i have a 91 s10 p/u lowered 4/4, cavy seats, 2.5l 5 speed, and the engine has been a headache for the past year, $2500 in parts and it still has more problems than ever. its driveable on the highway, but check engine light will come on randomly, no codes come up, new computer.
so wanting more passenger room, and some actual comforts, i was looking at a 2wd blazer.. but this is iowa so 2wd is like winning the lottery.. all i can find is 4x4 blazers. dont get me wrong id love to lay body on 20's, but id have to buy a winter beater and store it and all that unfun stuff. so im thinking of taking a huge loss and lose the stress and just buy a 98-00 blazer/gmc 4x4, putting my 12" kicker shallow mount sub, and dvd player and calling it a day and not do anything else. so onto the questions, other than the obvious check 4hi, 4 lo while turning, backing up and noises, leaks and everything else. is there anything else i should check for? theres a 00 gmc blazer/jimmy? that i want, and wanted to know if theres something i should check out like "check to see if the flux capacitor has a red ring as it means more speed" |

Re: purchasing a blazer/gmc 4x4 questions
looked around, found a dark blue gmc jimmy, console shifter, fell in love, but front end damage, bumper and grille. called to get the price, with warranty $9500, without warranty $7900.. FUD THAT i was tempted to call back and see if hed knock off $1000 for the front end damage
they also wanted $75 a week. my brother bought his truck from them at $7500? got the loan, went in to buy it and their like "oh i thought we agreed on 7900"just called them back, asking if the quote was with or without the front end damage repaird.. "theres no damage on it, we carfax all our vehicles" so i had to explain i seen the front end damage on it.. they tried telling me there is no damage.... guess that huge basketball sized dent on the bumper and broken grille is factory spec body styling the 00 pewter has 88k miles on it, $6900, W code engine. and then an 01 with 105,000miles, $6500 W code i like the 00 jimmy better. gonna see what i can do for a loan Last edited by beaniebmx : 04-12-2008 at 04:10 PM. |

I'd stay away from that dealer if I were you. Also, go for the 2000.

Good deal. I'm glad I didn't have to go through the beater stage. Moms fronted me the car until I paid her for it. Mine was only $6100 off the lot though--4.5 years ago.

Re: purchasing a blazer/gmc 4x4 questions
the truck i traded in wasnt a beater, theres not a whole lot of 1st gens her ein town, out of them all, im one of 3 that is 5% rust. one is driven by a retired couple and the other was another old couple.
paintjobs still looked mint, engine was good but knocked at high rpm and valvetrain ticked. was my first vehicle, and alwayssss got looks. my mom called it the micromachine, said i looked way too big for it ![]() |

Re: purchasing a blazer/gmc 4x4 questions
found out i need a wiring harness to put my new headunit in, and i need to fix the drivers headlight, its IN WRONG... wondered why the drivers light pointed upwards a few inches on the wall. you can tell the light isnt right.
i removed the roof rack last night, put sealant on the holes and caked the threads full and tightened them down and wiped it smooth around the bolts.. looks so much better. next up, is painting the rims, they are the like 10 spoke silver rims, its an SLE model. silver rims are on every car now adays.. its factory=ew found out my electric mirrors.. are also heated... so buying the SS mirrors if i want to keep heat, is $210.. oww ![]() |
