Re: pulling a trailer w/ 96' 4.3 blazer??
i definatly wouldent... the blazer doesent weigh enough to safely tow a vehicle roughly its own size, plus the trailer. Brakes on the trailer will help, but if the trailer starts to wag like a dogs tail (on a bridge, in the wind, when you pass a semi, etc) may god be with you. A tow dolly would probably be your best option.

Re: pulling a trailer w/ 96' 4.3 blazer??
i disagree...well sort of...good points, dont mean to sound rude...but i pull an 8000lbs box trailer occasionally from work...brakes are a must...i do have alittle suspension work done on the jimmy though to carry more weight, but i dont have any problems really...though it will do alot of wear and tear to your suspension, brakes, and if the engine strains too much, you can wear it down and possibly blow it...but just an s10 i dont think youd have too many problems

however notice i said i WOULDENT, not COULDENT. although i'm not one to take chances with this sort of thing. I'd rather have too much vehicle and never need it than not have enough when you do need it. although a couple months ago i did pull a sunfire with my 2.2 5 speed reg cab.... cheaper than a wrecker ![]() http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...66_91_full.jpg Last edited by Eight433 : 01-13-2006 at 02:05 AM. |

Didn't have a prob doing it myself... Just remember to keep it in 3rd the entire time (not OD) And a tranny cooler would be a bonus...

Since no one has said... 2dr or 4dr?
2dr = hell no 4dr = stated above... tow dolly better, brakes better, |

How about a 2-door 4.3L towing a 10 foot enclosed?

chevy24083.....a single cab can, i own a single cab beat around 4cyl 1996 and ive towed a 1g awd talon with it ;-) and gmchigh, a honda civic can pull a 10' enclosed trailer empty, you need to specify how heavy it is ;-)

Re: pulling a trailer w/ 96' 4.3 blazer??
I meant if the Blazer is 2dr, then I wouldn't try to tow a pickup with it. The truck itself is longer than the blazer, so the trailer and all would be WAY too much.
A 4dr blazer has alot more weight and length to it than a 2dr.... so I would feel MUCH safer with a 4dr tow vehicle. |

Re: pulling a trailer w/ 96' 4.3 blazer??
Depends on the bag setup. Certain ones wouldn't be suitable for towing... others would be better than stock.

Re: pulling a trailer w/ 96' 4.3 blazer??
I towed a tandem axel trailer with a 90 eagle talon on it with no brakes fo like 70 miles it sagged the rear suspension even with the trailer loaded level. The truck has the power to pull it but it was probably to much weight ...

Re: pulling a trailer w/ 96' 4.3 blazer??
I've got a 2001 4 door 2 wheel drive, I tow a 4x8 trailer with 5 bicycles on it and I really wouldn't tow anything more than that. Actually, i probably would but...........

Re: pulling a trailer w/ 96' 4.3 blazer??
yeah stock suspension isnt much...i have a 2.5" lift when i fill the airshocks and to pull that 8000lbs trailer i have to fill them, but i do stay level ride height with it
