Premium fuel-who uses it??

So I have a 2000 Blazer 4x4. Its a 4.3L vortec. I know its not necessary to use 93 octane gas but is it hurting the motor by doing so? I notice it does run smoother and I dont have to fill up as frequent as reg gas.

What octane fuel are you guys running??

i put it in 2x when it was new...

difference in mileage was 600km on a tank - regular
650km on a tank - super

no diff in power...

I use premium when I set the computer for it with my HPPIII, but mostly just regular unleaded 87 octane.

i did when i first got the truck because i wasnt paying attention to which nozzle i grabbed.

hmm thats a good point. the tank last longer with super. sure its 2.00 difference in price but you have less of a visit to the pumps. it kind of works out. but does it create more carbon buildup on the intake? i thought i read that somewhere but just cant find it again.

This past weekend I put 15gal of 91 and 3.4gal of 101. It ran much smoother IMO. Might just be in my head but I though I would do it for shits and giggles.

i run premium in my blazer. but i have to cause i have my hypertech programmer set on the highest setting and its required.

I noticed no difference in any GM car or truck, but I did notice on my turbo 300zx haha

Mine runs alot smoother on premium, and I get about 3 MPG more fuel economy. It tends to keep your valves cleaner as well. More additives so it burns more completely and thus you get more effeciency and power (though it might not be noticable to the feel).

of you het 93 use chevron with techron or instead of buy 93 just buy a bottle of techron every oil change I know it is $15 but it is worth it

Run regular, if it knocks under load ie. going up a hill while accelerating, then step up one grade of fuel. If it still knocks the run Hi-test. What I have run into and a buddy of mine is a prime example, he runs Super all the time. He thinks Super or Hi-test is Hi-performance. Can't get it thru his head that it has additives to prevent detonation. Oh well!!!!!!

the 01 gmc 2.2l gets 87, drive 150 miles a day, can not afford the 3.50 gal for 93.

the 94 gmc 4.3l gets 89, gets the best gas mileage and no spark knock

the 01 WS6 5.7l has to get 93, if I Could find higher I would use it.

regular unleaded here is already $3.05 a gal, fuk premium i cant afford it. plus unleaded makes my truck move so im stickin with it.

87.. no need for any thing else right now...

The VW gets 93 since its a turbo. The Stang gets 93 as well.
