Powertrain Control Module (PCM) *URGENT*

I have been doing some research on getting my PCM re-programmed for better performance/mileage through Wait4Me. The whole process of sending in the PCM takes several days, so I've decided now would be the time to get it done since I am traveling for the holidays and will be leaving my car for several weeks.

So, that being said, and I apologize in advance for needing quick responses, I am flying out tomorrow afternoon! I have little experience with engines etc. so it would be great if someone could outline what I need to do to take the PCM out. I know it is just a couple bolts, assuming I'll need a wrench... but I don't want to run into complications and be late for my flight.

So, for anyone who knows, what would be some instructions and tools needed to remove the PCM?? My car is with me across the country at school so I don't have my tools with me, though I could buy whatever tools necessary. A picture of a blazer PCM would help a lot too.

Need answers by about 3:00PM Mountain time 12/20 lulz.

Thanks!

Addendum: Here is a link of what I mainly read over (yes long).

Re: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) *URGENT*

I forget the actual socket sizes(it's between 7mm and 10mm i think) you need to remove three bolts around the PCM, then just unclip the cables. You can also remove the PCM from it's plastic tray once it's completely out.

It's far from rocket science, and I highly doubt you'll break anything. Should take about 15minutes tops with a decent rachet and socket set(to find the correct sizes)

Alright, great, I will pick up a socket set today... Where is it located in a blazer?

Re: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) *URGENT*

I did the same thing. It took 7 days to ship and get it returned. Installed it in less than 15 minutes. You'll notice the difference right away. Post once you have it installed.

Sounds good, I got mine shipped back today. I gotta fly with it across the country now and then install it in my car when I return haha... Is there anything to do when you install it or just cross your fingers that it works fine after plugging it in?

What is the re-learn I've been hearing about?

Follow the directions for the relearn process. They will be included when you get your pcm back. Make sure your battery is charged up too when you do it since its going to be on for a while.

I didn't get anything back with the PCM... no email that he got it, anything, he just sent it back. I thought it was kind of odd...

So if you could help me out, what do I do then?

$85 for the tune if you send in your old one (that includes $10 return shipping) plus $10 for me to ship it there, or $160 if you buy a brand new tuned PCM.

Re: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) *URGENT*

You don't need to do the relearn procedure. The purpose of sending your own PCM is to avoid doing the relearn procedure. Mine has run great since installing it.

I gained about 1 MPG in the city. ~2 on the highway. The tune changes torque converter lockup. The new program locks converters above 45 MPH. A stock PCM may or may not lockup a torque converter in city driving. 4 doors are notorious for loose converters. I've seen mine drive over 10 miles without locking up. I had to slow down then speed up slowly so it lockup. Now, the PCM locks the converter above 45 MPH. My Jimmy can get 20 MPG at 80 MPH, 22-23 at 70 MPH. Throttle response is great. Tranny shifts are better too. Torque management is reduced by 75%. Torque management reduces timing during transmission shifts. GM wanted smooth tranny shifts. With the reduction, tranny shifts are quicker and firmer.

I recommend the PCM retune to any S10 owner. Best $86 dollars I've spent on my Jimmy.

passlock is the bullshit factory security that all 98+ s-series have..it is a shitty system and when it fails you rtruck is not going anywhere...so you can get it removed from the pcm and you will never have a issue...

Re: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) *URGENT*

When I checked on getting a remote car start/keyless entry they told me it would cost $50 over the normal price because it requires a special module because of the Passlock so that might be another reason to have it removed.

Angry Re: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) *URGENT*

Can anyone help me to reset my passlock system? My 99 Chevy Blazer is stuck in my driveway, it will turn over, it just doesn't see to be getting fuel, which is making me think it is the passlock system.

Re: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) *URGENT*

BTW- I put it in, and immediately noticed a difference! I even went from driving an Impala for a month to driving the blazer and even with that change could still feel the power difference. It is no doubt faster, and actually seems to shift through the gears smoother than before, and certainly faster. It takes much less force on the pedal to accelerate and keep it going fast. I have also gained a few mpg more. Really, really impressive. I also switched to Premium gas to get the full benefits.

Have you verified fuel pressure at priming when you turn the key?
