Power Window Woes

Greetings,

I have come across a strange power window problem. I have a 2001 Blazer 4DR.
This morning I lowered the drivers side power window all the way down and back up to clear the morning dew off of it with no problems. Then this afternoon I head off to lunch and try to let my window down to no avail. All the other windows work with no problems. I have tested output voltage on the various wires on the plug. I got +12v on one wire when pressing switch up and +12v on another wire when pressing switch down (all normal). So this does lead me to believe that the actual motor has gone out. I have just never seen a motor go out like this without any notice.

Any one have any advice and/or ideas as to rather or not it is the motor or not?

Thank you for your time.

Sounds like the motor to me I have had to replace both front motors on my 2000 jimmy its a pain in the ass to get them out due to the rivets but whole thing takes about 40 min to an hour

Re: Power Window Woes

I was afraid that might be the case. The damnest thing this morning I took off and out of habit hit the window switch and viola it went back to working. Has worked perfect since. So now I am quite confused. Oh well will cross this bridge again if and when it happens again. I have done power window replacements on my Firebird and it was quite a pain I fear the Blazer would be worse.

Thanks.

The driver's side power window in my '01 will quit working when its really hot outside. Only when its around 98-100*.

Re: Power Window Woes

Maybe all that dew down in the door pissed off the motor.

Yep, been there and done that. Pain in the ass. I never could get my motor out through the hole in door, so I left it in there. Fortunately, my problem was just worn out rivets making motor loose. Nothing a few bolts couldn't fix.
