Power mirror switch question
I have one of the square type mirror switches on my 01 Jimmy and am having a bit of trouble. The original tested bad with my multimeter and upon taking it apart I noticed a lot of corrosion on the little circuit board. Once I put it back together I could get the mirrors to move in two directions but they would not move in the other two.
I purchased a used one off of eBay since I didn't want to spend $55 at Autozone and found that the new one won't move either mirror in any direction. Is it that common that these things fail that I would be blessed not only with a non functioning unit in my own vehicle but also the one that I purchased used?? Is there anything else it could be considering my mirrors do work in two directions with the stock unit but in no directions at all with the used? If it matters, I have tested the wires and found that the switch does have a good ground and is getting +12v. When I move it in some directions I do get continuity with the meter but in other directions I get nothing. The nothing readings also coincide with the non movement of the mirrors with the original switch. |

Re: Power mirror switch question
They are $65 from GM. They sell the whole mirror/door lock/window switch assemblies for $20-$30 at some boneyards and on eBay. What really sucks is that even at Rock Auto they are $58 and no local parts store sells them.
