Painting the Rear Window Trim

The window trim on my S10 Blazer Extreme has gotten pretty baked from the sun and is now a rough texture and turning a green color. I doubt I will be able to recover it to like new condition.

Does anyone know how to replace this and how did you paint this to keep it from happening again?

Re: Painting the Rear Window Trim

It's part of the window. I used some body filler to smooth them back out and repainted.

I bought a used hatch glass for my 4dr, it had the same problem. scuffed it and painted it with dupont vynil black with 305 vynil resin reducer/activator. looks brand new

Can't replace it without replacing the whole window, just paint it.

do you think though it would be possible to sand it and paint it if i just taped off really good around it?

the sun won't cook it once it is painted will it?

Re: Painting the Rear Window Trim

I'm having the same issue, I am going to look into maybe using a spray in bed liner texture on a junk yard piece first to see how it turns out .And then I will sand it down and mask (real good) while its on my truck and spray it, I will post some pics in a week or 2 to show how it works ........

Re: Painting the Rear Window Trim

The dealer I bought my Blazer from masked it off and sprayed it with the same black semi textured crap they sprayed the frame and underside with. It's better than baked plastic look but still not great.

Re: Painting the Rear Window Trim

Mine were pitted from the sun. I sanded them down on the truck and had them painted along with the truck.
