Overheating

Just had my water pump replaced and now my truck is overheating at idle. when i drive it it gets up to about 240 and then drops to about 140 and starts heating up again
We let it idle and the temp never dropped, backed down my driveway and the temps dropped within 100 feet of moving.. why god why?

i replaced that thermostat about 2,000 miles ago

Re: Overheating

sounds like low coolant or an air pocket in the colling system. did you bleed the cooling system after the water pump was installed?

Re: Overheating

Or just check your coolant level and top it off with water. It could save you some time and dealing with the grease monkeys at the garage.

Re: Overheating

Just open the cap when it's cold and see if you can add water. Big time saver and they won't find "something else" to fix.

Re: Overheating

its radiator is topped off and i even put more into the engine coolant reservoir, its not leaking out anywhere and there is no coolant in the oil just an FYI if those were your next questions.

Re: Overheating

Take the cap off the rad, run the engine for awhile. if there is air it will burp itself.
