Re: Overhead Console Display wireing???????
Try searching in the electrical and radio sections, I've seen a few installation threads in there before.

Re: Overhead Console Display wireing???????
i figured some of the wireing myself
yellow- ignition black - ground gray - Illumination brown - dimmer but there is 2 more, green and green/black, im assuming from the exterior temp? i did not get it if there is one, also, i might of grabbed a bad one, i hooked a 12v 1/2amp dc power adapter to it to test, and seems that the compus only shows N and NE, but when i hold it upside down it shows S, im confused, could it be a bad unit or maybe needs the proper amps to run correctly? also doesnt show interior temps, not the right model? |

Re: Overhead Console Display wireing???????
Few things. First, the S/N/NW thing. There should be a circuit board of some sort attached to the console. That's the compass. It's possible that, by turning it upside down, it thinks it's going the other way. You can calibrate that once everything's installed by driving around in circles (seriously). Second, none of the S based upper console displays will show the interior temp. They're meant to show the exterior temp. You need a separate sensor for that (mounts in front of the radiator, I think). Finally, you probably won't get good use out of that model. It has the Mode switch which means it has the trip computer. That requires (as far as I know) a data cable connection. I'm not sure the 1st gens were set up for anything like that. The best you'll probably get out of it is the temp/compass. Unless you got a screaming deal on the display, I'd suggest trading it off for one that shows temp/compass only (or selling it outright). (It'll have En/Met and On/Off switches instead of Mode.) There are plenty of folks here that would buy the trip computer depending on what wiring it comes with (me included
).Here's a couple of great write ups from fellow S 10 boards: http://www.s-10crewcab.com/phpBB2/vi...=asc&star t=0 http://www.zr2usa.com/mboard/index.php?showtopic=34823 Last edited by Sammytheorangutan : 06-21-2009 at 10:41 AM. Reason: added links |

Re: Overhead Console Display wireing???????
the photo was for referance to what i am talking about (incase someone didnt understand), mine does not have the mode button, just the us/met and on/off, sorry for any confusion, i will try driving in circles once its installed, hopfully a cop doesnt pull me over in the middle of a parking lot thinking im drunk or something, lmao, and as for the sensor, could someone post a photo of it so i know what to look for when i go back to the wreckers, or discribe what it would look like and what colour wires i need to look for, and as for the comment i made, it was a joke, hence "jokes" get a sence of humor jeeze, thanks again for the help everyone

Re: Overhead Console Display wireing???????
The sensor is located in front of the radiator support and behind the grille, it is slightly left of dead center and will be clipped on with only a tube looking piece sticking up. It's the ONLY electronic device located there and is pretty easy to see with the grille removed.
