Oil Leak

I Noticed A Leak From The Hoses Coming Off Of The Oil Filter To The Engine Block. How Hard Is It To Replace Them?

Re: Oil Leak

I just replaced these on my '89 blazer. Not too difficult but I had to unbolt the driver's side motor mount and jack the motor up a bit to get the old lines out and the new ones in. Just be patient and you can do it.

Re: Oil Leak

I'm on my 3rd set or oil cooler lines. Original lines failed after 4 years, dealer replaced as I had the extended warranty. 5 years later I had to replace at my own cost. IT was a 4 hour job in my buddys garage. Not a do it yourself job unless you have lift and full stock of mechanic's toold. We had to jack the engine up and disconect the mounts. A few specialty tools were needed.

Pain in the butt to clear the lines. have patience.

I wrote to Chevy about a possible design flaw or recall, they said it was just normal wear due to my cold climate (NY State). (seals dry and shrink in freexing temps)

I learned my lesson and use BARS stop leak and seal conditioner to keep the seals plyable in sub freezing temps).

After you replace use a similar conditioner so you only have to do it once. especially if your in a cold climate.

Re: Oil Leak

I replaced the lines on my Jimmy. Real easy to do.

Buy an oil cooler kit from the local parts store. Kit costs less than $3. It has orings for the lines and oil adaptor. If you don't replace the connection orings, you have leaks soon enough. Only one bolt holds the lines to the body. The other connections are at the radiator and adaptor.
