Odd consistant hum (wo wo wo) tire sound - 00 Bravada

I just started noticing an odd sound coming from the driver side front wheel. First off it's an 00 Bravada and the tires should be good (were fine last time I checked) and I JUST got it inspected so I'm guessing the wheel bearing is ok.

Basically the sound is constant, it doesn't change w/ speed or if you are going straight or turning. Wo wo wo is the sound (i know it sounds dumb).

Any ideas? When I got it inspected, I had to replace the upper ball joint on the same side but the shop said everything else was fine.

Thanks

No one? I think I'm starting to feel it slightly now. But it still doesn't change w/ speed or steering. I'm hoping to swap the wheels by friday, so hopefully I will know if it's the wheel or suspension.

I agree.
Need to run to Autozone and pick up some cross drilled/slotted brake lines. Be sure to top up the headlight blinker fluid too! Autozone also has cans of compression on sale right now too i think (15% off or something like that)

Re: Odd consistant hum (wo wo wo) tire sound - 00 Bravada

rotate your tires if the sound stays then its your hubs or your rotors are warped... you could check for excessive heat coing from the hubs or rotors but getting a temp gun and pointing it at each componant after a long drive... you could even check your tires this way... if one is hotter then all the others by alot then something is going on inside... did they do an alightment after they replaced the upper ball joint... you can also jack the truck up and shake the tire around... if there is play side to side then its a tie rod... if its top to bottm then its the hub or ball joints... it alll depends on how it moves and if and where the heat comes from

Re: Odd consistant hum (wo wo wo) tire sound - 00 Bravada

First off, thanks for the comments, I hadn't realized people had replied since I never received a noticed via email.

But honestly I still don't think it's the bearing because the sound doesn't change when you turn. And I have dealt w/ wheel bearings before (not on the bravada) and this doesn't sound anything like a bearing. And I haven't swapped the wheels yet but that is the next thing I'm going to do.

And I did the ball joint swap but an alignment shouldn't be needed. But also, If I remember correctly, I think the sound started before I did the ball joint but I'm not 100% sure on that.

It almost seems like you can hear the sound when the tires are cold but gets lighter/softer after driving for awhile. And I was incorrect before, the sound does change w/ the speed of the car/wheel!

Oh and thanks to the few retards that don't have anything useful to say!

best way to tell is to ack up the truck and move the wheel around and see where the play is...mine was doing the same thing..and i replaced the wheel hubs and all was good

Ya that is the plan, just really hoping it's not the hub because I don't want to spend the $200+ just yet... But most likely I will in the end...

Hell, I thought at first mine was the tires, bought new ones and drove down the road and was pissed, went home and replaced the hub bearings and rode just like new again.

Ya I did an oil change today and swapped the front tires, no change... So I'm going to replace the hub next week.

Ya I'm not that worried about doing it, it seemed pretty simple. I just hate wasting the money/time right now since I have a motorcycle/chopper project I'm dying to finish by next month. Gotta have your priorities ya know

Re: Odd consistant hum (wo wo wo) tire sound - 00 Bravada

So next question guys, since the noise isn't changing when I turn the wheel, how am I supposed to know which hub to change? I checked for play and didn't really feel any from either wheel...

It sounds like and feels like it's coming from the DS but not 100% sure. Any other way of being sure? And no I don't want change both right this second...
