NP4 transfer case
Hey y'all. I have a 1998 Bravada that has begun to make a rumbling noise that seems to come from the transfer case. If you have ever had a rear end go out, that is what it sounds like but only at about 80 miles per hour. At 50 there is no detectable rumbling. The shaft coming out of the transfer case to the front differntial has a lot of play in it. I mean up and down as well as rotationally. I went by the dealer to get a price for a new transfer case and he said the NP4 has been discontinued back in 2001. I think I have some time before it goes out but has anyone of y'all tried to rebuild one? The parts breakdown makes it look like there is not much to them. Do any of y'all know of a reputable shop that rebuilds them? Is there a replacement that would replace the NP4?
