No Heat At All
02 JIMMY, its like minus -40 here and my truck is outside 24/7, now i have command start so i let my truck warm up for a while, get in and my heater controls are on 4 and hot and on defroster, but nothing is blowing, nothing at all. No sound nothing, and i turn it to off and i hear it sis for a second then off. Does this sound like a blower motor?

Re: No Heat At All
dumb question..... did you try the other speeds, cuz it could be the resistor...... if they dont work, start with fuses, if all are good, its prob the blower motor.... you can also bang on the blower motor and see if it kicks over

Re: No Heat At All
mine does the same thing, i didnt check fuses, but i had to order a new blower, sucks driving around in a cold truck, i also picked up a new thermostat because when it kicks in its not that warm, mine kicks in randomly when im driving, or if i hit a bump and the fan turns a bit it starts. must be a dead spot on the fan.

Re: No Heat At All
Maybe its too early and I just can't compute yet but...new as in brand new? or new as in new to your possession? I would also check the speed switch..esp if its working on 1,2,3. |

Re: No Heat At All
sounds like it's the resistor then, like lt1s10onair was saying earlier, which is why the 4th speed isn't working

Re: No Heat At All
k well i got a repair manual for christmas haha it says its most likely the resistor to. How do i go abouts checking it? Get a volt meter and put it on each terminal and change speeds?

Re: No Heat At All
If you use a volt meter, you don't need to change speeds. The resistor will change the amount of juice going out at each terminal. That's how it works to make the blower blow at different speeds. If it's working on 1, 2, and 3, but not 4, it IS the resistor.
Mine did this the other morning. Nothing worked. None of the speeds. I went inside, came out a little later, and everything was working great. Hmmmmmmm. |

Re: No Heat At All
Ahhhhhhhh. Looks like I will be replacing the resistor as well. I went ahead and bought a new blower motor the other day. When turning the key on I can hear the blower motor spinning but will not change speeds from just a low speed. I guess replacing that answers my problem. Hopefully. Just any parts shop carry replacement resistor?
