Newb Checking in to say hi...

I posted this up over in the S10 forum on accident so I'm moving it over here...

Hey guys I'm not really all that new here as I have been lurking the forum's here for a couple years now getting info and enjoying some pretty sick trucks. I have an 01 Blazer LS with power everything and a 4.3/5spd combo and the 8.5" rear. So far I've dropped her 2 inches with a Belltech drop. I picked up a set of Extreme wheels and wrapped them in BFG G-Force Sport rubber in 255/50zr16 out back and 245/50zr16 up front. Upgraded the swaybar links up front with energy suspension links, and out back I stiffened them up using some poly link bushings I had laying around. Performance wise I upgraded the shifter with a Hurst unit, changed out the tranny mount with one from Energy Suspension. I welded the stock Driver's side motor mount solid since it was busted and replaced the passenger side one with a New rubber one from Advance. Installed a K&N CAI, MSD Coil, and wires. Gibson Catback, I removed the cats and replaced them with straight pipe. Installed some NGK TR6's for the 75 shot from Dyno Tune. All in all I love the Truck and it's a blast to drive (torched a ton of unsuspecting gt Mustang owners).

Any way I do have a couple of questions that I have not been able to answer through searching. First off does anyone here know of a set of Full Length headers that will bolt up to my truck? I'm not worried about any Emissions junk obviously, I just don't want to spend $700+ on the JBA shorties for a marginal gain (even though they are pretty). Secondly I am looking for a Blue Painted front bumper with the lower valance, since some Ass Hat hit my truck in the parking lot at FT Stewart where I am stationed. Lastly I have been looking all over for a lighter hood for her but all I can find in fiberglass are RamAir style hoods and hoods with huge ugly cowls. I'm looking for either a stock style hood or a low profile cowl that follows the lines of the truck. Do any of you know where I might be able to find what I'm looking for?? Thanks for the help in advance.

In regards to headers, I've been there and I've been told that it's not worth your money for the 4.3. You'll lose back pressure and only gain on the top end. And if you haven't disabled the governer, that means squat.

Hoods, I like sonoma hoods. But I have a sonoma. Do a search for s10's/blazers with sonoma hoods, they look sick. Not any lighter tho.

You're stationed at Ft. Stewart huh? We used to shoot there when I was stationed at Kings Bay, but we stopped cuz you guys didn't have a 500 yard line. Killer Chow Hall tho.

Welcome to the forums.

Re: Newb Checking in to say hi...

I've got HP tuners so all is well on the tuning end of things just need to buy a couple credits to license the Blazer.

I'll look into the sonoma hood thanks. I did see one I like earlier today but I can't remember where I found it so I'll have to fine it again.

Yep Ft Stewart. But right now I'm living in Baghdad (gotta love deployments).

I've always been interested in one of those tuners. Never really took the time to learn a lot about them. How's it working for you?

I Never made it to Baghdad. I was in Ramadi. But Ramadi was plenty of fun.

Re: Newb Checking in to say hi...

It actually works with a laptop. It's a professional tuning unit. It works great there's not a parameter I can't adjust. I can delete the codes that cause the check engine light to come on when you have done mods that cause it to come on like remove your EGR. It's kinda pricy though. I bought it because I am opening a shop of my own when I get out of the Army. Well Off to work I go.
