Question New Bravada - For me anyways, quick check 4wd question

Hey!

I am picking up a nice non-abused 1998 Bravada with 170k miles. I know its a lot but I checked it throughly and it was well maintained. The tranny was rebuilt a few years back by AAMCO.

There is one concern that has got me worried. The check 4wd light comes on and off every once and a while.

Is this a simple switch malfunction or signs that the 4wd is on its way out?

Thanks for all replies!!

Re: New Bravada - For me anyways, quick check 4wd question

i know mine, the gauges say "AWD" not 4x4, but it could be anything from a loose wire to something going wrong. with mine, it came on when my awd took a sh*t on me, but it turned out to be the encoder motor... so it wasn't too bad.

my advice is have a shop take a peek and see if a code comes up and go from there

My service 4wd came on every once and a while i took it to my mechanic and it was a dealer code (to get you to go to the dealer for no reason)

All 1st & 2nd Gen Bravada's Are Awd, Only 3rd Gen Are Selectable 4x4's
Like It Was Said Earlier , Probaly An Encoder Motor Or Loose Wire

2002-2006 is 3rd gen & is a sibling to the trailblazer
it still has the bravada name, so that makes it a 3rd gen

I have 96 drivetrain scanned factory pages for 4X4's. Both electronic and not. If you want a copy send me a private message with your e-mail address.
