Need some advice in holding something Down.

Ok well I got tired of all my stuff sliding around in my cargo area so I bought a storage bin. And I don't want it to slide around. Any idea's on how to secure it?

Here's a picture.

Velcro tape? Stick it to the bottom of the box.

Re: Need some advice in holding something Down.

I would just get some of that sticky backed sand paper type material like they use on skateboards and stick it to the bottom of the box. it should keep it from sliding around but wont mess up the carpet like velcro will over time. you should be able to find that tape material at any skate shop, or they might have something similar at lowes/home depot.

That'd be perfect.

"Grip tape" and it does mess up the carpet too. And will probally scratch up the cargo net hooks too.

Re: Need some advice in holding something Down.

you dont HAVE to drag it in and out of the cargo area. if he simply lifts it off the floor before pulling it out there should be no damage.

Doesn't always "grip" though. Depends on the weight of the item and force, it could still slide. The type of grip tape will make a difference too, as there are several styles. Some, the cheaper stuff, will just flake off. And some are very mild. "Traction tape" and "Safety tape" is the name for it outside of skate shops.

I would say about 10 Lbs without anything in it, right now it weighs about 30 with all my crap in it.

I was thinking just cutting two slots in the bottom of it where the hooks are and just running a bungee through the bottom.

Re: Need some advice in holding something Down.

If you have the front cargo hooks in the floor, just unbolt them. drill holes in the box and get longer bolts and bolt it down. I had a big box like that in my Sonoma. I had a ratchet strap around it from the box hooks to hold it in place since even with velcro on the bottom and stuck to my Bed Rug, the velcro would come unstuck from the box then slide around.

Re: Need some advice in holding something Down.

drill holes in your floor. 2 pieces of aluminum about 24x2 from home depot. drill two holes in each piece, insert carriage bolts and bolt to the floor from underneath the truck. drill holes in your bin and use large flat washers and wingnuts to hold it down.

Thats what i would do. Then when you take it out there will be no extra holes or anything like that.
